 The originality of AC Immune's approach consists of the combination of an immunology and a chemistry platform technology to develop therapies against "conformational" diseases and cancer. The class of conformational diseases is characterized by an aberrant conformational transition of a specific protein, which in turn leads to a slow and insidious onset of debilitating symptoms. Two well-known examples of conformational diseases are Alzheimer's and Prion disease. |
